What is the best type of laptop to get for a good price?

I want to get a laptop but I don’t want to spend a lot of money. Are there any good, reliable brands that are fairly cheap? Or any certain kinds that are better than others? I’ve seen those little ones on commercials but I don’t know if one of those would be better than a normal size laptop. Oh, and does anyone know anything about those mi-fi things, the portable wireless internet? Any suggestions??

I like the compaq presario cq60 series. They are the perfect budget laptops and average about $399.
