net books
can you install programs in net books?

I know net books been around, but never stepped out of desktop pc world. I want to install like programs from a outside source eg. discs or image files, do they allow that or it is just a regular small laptop where you just surf online and there is nothing else to it.

As long as the program is compatible with the netbooks operating system then yes, if its running XP or Windows 7 then you can pretty much run anything any other windows based computer can run, the only issue you might encounter is performance as netbooks struggle to run memory or processor intensive applications.

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! .NET Reflector is a free software utility for Microsoft .NET combining class browsing, static analysis and decompilation, originally written by Lutz Roeder. MSDN Magazine named it as one of the Ten Must-Have utilities for developers, and Scott Hanselman listed it as part of his “Big Ten Life and Work-Changing Utilities”. .NET Reflector was the first .NET assembly browser. It can be used to inspect, navigate, search, analyze, and browse the contents of a .NET component such as an assembly and translates the binary information to a human-readable form. By default Reflector allows decompilation of .NET assemblies into C#, Visual Basic .NET and Common Intermediate Language. Reflector also includes a “Call Tree”, that can be used to drill down into IL methods to see what other methods they call. It will show the metadata, resources and XML documentation. .NET Reflector can be used by .NET developers to understand the inner workings of code libraries, to show the differences between two versions of the same assembly, and how the various parts of a .NET application interact with each other. There are a large number of addins for Reflector.

When you use .NET to create client-and server-side applications, you have to address a new and large set of security issues. “.NET Security” shows you what you need to know by covering the different aspects of the .NET security model through detailed discussions about the key namespaces. The authors not only demonstrate how to write .NET code that can create secure systems within the .NET Framework, but also discuss ways that someone may try to break the security model in .NET, and how .NET prevents such intrusions.”.NET Security” is a tutorial about how to use the .NET security and cryptographic classes as well as a reference for any developer who wants to understand how security is implemented in the .NET Framework. The .NET Framework requires understanding in many new areas such as managed code, permissions, and evidence—and this book covers them all. About the Authors: Jason Bock is consultant and instructor for Intertech-Inc. (a company devoted to delivering hands-on workshops for enterprise web developers and whose focus is the professional Java(tm), XML, and .NET enterprise developer). He has worked on a number of business applications using a diverse set of substrates and languages such as C#, .NET, and Java. He is also the author of “CIL Programming: Under the Hood of .NET” by Apress and “Visual Basic 6 Win32 API Tutorial”, and has written numerous articles on technical development issues associated with both VB and Java. Jason holds both a B.A. and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University. Pete Stromquist is a consultant at Magenic Technologies (one of the nation’s premiere Microsoft Gold Certified Partners), specializing in Web-enabled application development using Microsoft tools and technologies. .Net Windows Development

.Net Windows Development

The author’s experience while consulting for teams of developers that create line-of-business applications has led to an interesting finding: Most developers of this type of applications are very proficient at writing data-input forms, data manipulation, and reports. However, they fail to apply or even consider using in their applications many useful subsets of the functionality provided by the .Net Framework Class Libraries.Occasionally, a different feature will be needed in a program. It may be necessary to display a custom graphic such as an organizational chart, or to generate a specialized report that cannot be generated by the standard reporting engine. Or perhaps the program could benefit from supporting some of the features in the latest version of Windows. Or the code that is used for persisting complex objects could be made simpler by means of serialization. In this book, we present a few techniques that can be useful for performing various tasks that in many cases will not be familiar to the intended audience, but may come handy when some new feature or enhancement is needed in an application. Some of the topics that we cover are the following:•Special techniques for accessing data•New features in Windows 7•Using Graphics, Serialization and Reflection•Various techniques that should be well-known, but aren’t.•Tips and tricks for Windows Forms applicationsMost tips can be used under all versions of Visual Studio. Whenever a specific minimum version is needed, it is noted in the text. A few specific examples make use of features that are new to Visual Studio 2010. All the source code for the examples can be downloaded from our web site http://www.krasispress.com

$39.95

If you’re seeking ways to build network-based applications or XML-based web services, Microsoft provides most of the tools you’ll need. XML is integrated into the .NET Framework and Visual Studio .NET, but if you want to get a grasp on how .NET and XML actually work together, that’s a different story. With . NET & XML, you can get under the hood to see how the .NET Framework implements XML, giving you the skills to write understandable XML-based code that interoperates with code written with other tools, and even other languages. . NET & XML starts by introducing XML and the .NET Framework, and then teaches you how to read and write XML before moving on to complex methods for manipulating, navigating, transforming, and constraining it. To demonstrate the power of XML in .NET, author Niel Bornstein builds a simple hardware store inventory system throughout the book. As you move from chapter to chapter, you’ll absorb increasingly complex information until you have enough knowledge to successfully program your own XML-based applications. This tutorial also contains a quick reference to the API, plus appendices present additional .NET assemblies that you can use to work with XML, and how to work with the .NET XML configuration file format. One study puts the potential market for new software based on XML at or near $100 billion over the next five years. The .NET Framework gives you a way to become a part of it. But to use XML and .NET effectively, you need to understand how these two technologies work together. This book gives you the insight to take full advantage of the power the two provide.

101 Reasons to Own the World’s Greatest Investment: Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway

$19.95

“It took me thirty years of doing everything else first before I found Berkshire. My intent is to share my experience to help you reach your goal much faster.”-Robert P. MilesMuch has been written about the “Sage of Omaha,” Warren Buffett, and the philosophy that made him the most successful investor in history. Yet very little has been made public about Berkshire Hathaway, the NYSE publicly traded investment vehicle that is the hub of Buffett’s financial empire. With this book, longtime shareholder and acknowledged Berkshire Hathaway expert Robert P. Miles fills that gap for investors. With the second largest net worth in the world, Berkshire Hathaway’s $100 billion- plus market value currently surpasses that of such blue-chip giants as Dell, Home Depot, AT&T, Disney, Ford, Gillette, American Express, McDonald’s, and GM. Over the past two decades, Berkshire Hathaway has consistently outperformed the S&P Index by approximately three-to-one, and, not only has the company never posted a negative return, it has achieved double-digit performance in all but four years since 1965. Thirty years ago, a hundred shares of Berkshire Class A Common Stock cost less than $1,000. Today, that same hundred shares is worth over $7 million. Although Berkshire Class A (NYSE:BRK.A) is the highest priced stock on the NYSE, Berkshire Class B shares (NYSE:BRK.B) are now available for 1/30th the price. What is the secret behind Berkshire’s phenomenal success? How is it possible that a relatively obscure company, held by fewer than 20,000 registered shareholders and managed by Buffett and an administrative staff of twelve employees, consistently outperforms the top mutual funds by a wide margin? In 101 Reasons to Own the World’s Greatest Investment, Robert Miles provides complete answers to these questions. He takes a close look at the Buffett philosophy, and he provides a unique insider’s view of the inner workings of Berkshire Hathaway. Among other little-known facts,
